American Jimmy Donaldson, 25, better known on digital platforms as mrbeast, is among the most famous and highly paid YouTubers in the world. After drawing attention to his impactful philanthropic actions, he has been quietly buying an entire neighborhood for himself, his employees and his family.
According to the New York Post, MrBeast has purchased 5 modest properties around the area where he grew up in Greenville, North Carolina, over the past 5 years. The house he lives in was his first, which would have cost US$ 320,000 (about R$ 1.6 million) in 2018 and consists of four bedrooms and four bathrooms.
Three more houses would have been bought afterwards for a total of US$ 1.45 million (about R$ 7.25 million). According to the newspaper, they were not for sale and were traded off the market.
The youtuber with 154 million subscribers has already used his assets for other philanthropic actions. In one of them, he shared on the networks the funding for cataract surgery to restore sight to a thousand people. At the time, MrBeast received criticism from netizens who accused him of being for-profit as the reason for the help.
