The services in Cloud and of cybersecurity They are fundamental elements for the operation of companies today, an area that requires investment and even an operation of up to 24 continuous hours to mitigate cases such as hacking or data hijacking.
Movistar created a Digital Operations Center (DOC) in Bogotá, Colombia, to support the work of entrepreneurs in Hispanoamerica.
Initially, they will have a team of more than 50 employees, but the goal is that in three years the group will have more than 300, since there will be contact with the nearly 5 million customers that the Spanish company has supporting brands in Latin America. United States and part of Europe.
“The objective is to combine cloud and cybersecurity services in a single center to have a unique vision of our client in this type of services. Those that will allow us to know what services are affected, if there is an incident, know what we have to migrate to the cloud. Everything in one place”, assured María Jesús Almazor, CEO of cybersecurity and cloud of Telefonica Tech.
The focus of this space is to be a place of direct relationship with companies, maintaining contact with them and their technology teams or providing that support, since it is not only designed for large companies, but also for SMEs.
This last point is important because start-ups have a higher level of risk when receiving a cyberattack, because they do not have the technological and economic defense infrastructure, which can lead to bankruptcy.
For that, Movistar It has its own cloud and alliances with the main providers of this service, to design the right solution for each client and to access these platforms.
“For example, a hotel reservation system can be migrated to the cloud for storage. Also the Big Data part to use and analyze that data. In other words, we have any type of solution that requires processing in the cloud or consumption in the cloud here and now”, Almazor stated.
In terms of cybersecurity, there are several support options from the DOC in Bogotá. The main one is to be a support for companies in cases of attack, such as the ransomwarewhich is the kidnapping of data that affects companies in their operation and economic stability.
They also have an education and prevention approach, to avoid reaching these scenarios and provide continuous protection tools.
“We are constantly monitoring our clients to know the alerts that could be generated. We also have a very global vision of what is happening in the world and we know what is happening elsewhere, because these modalities are usually replicated quickly”, said the CEO of cybersecurity and cloud.
The operations center will work 24 hours a day, since a large part of the clients are in other countries and some in Europe. For this reason, Bogotá was chosen as the place for the creation of this space, “because it covers a time slot that allows extended hours support to customers in Europe and shares hours with many of the countries of America,” the company reported. .
