Tina turner she wasn’t known as the queen of rock ‘n’ roll for nothing. On one of her visits to Brazil, the singer broke the public record when performing at Maracanã. Tina died this Wednesday (24) in Zurich, Switzerland.
Guinness World Records recorded that the artist set the world record for the “largest paid attendance at a concert by a solo artist” with 188,000 people occupying the Rio stadium in 1988. She surpassed Frank Sinatra, who played to 170,000 people eight years before in the same place.
Tina surprised fans by arriving on stage in a Beija-Flor float. Singer Neguinho da Beija-Flor participated in the show and even lent her his famous catchphrase —”look at Beija-Flor there, folks”— to her. The singer was introduced to Brazilian fans with “look at Tina Turner there, guys”.
