The music world is in mourning today. We learn indeed this Wednesday, may 24, 2023, the death of the american singer Tina Turner at the age of 83 years. As his spokesperson announced in a press release strongly relayed by the American press, the rock’n’roll star known for his powerful voice died peacefully at his home in Küsnacht, Switzerland.
For several years, the singer who has sold more than 180 million records around the world, led a fight against the disease which ended up winning. After being the victim of a stroke, the interpreter of the tube “What’s Love Got to Do With It” was indeed fighting against intestinal cancer and kidney failure.

Born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939 in rural Tennessee, Tina Turner began her career as a blues singer in nightclubs at the age of 16. She then met Kings of Rhythm member Ike Turner and joined the band in the late 1950s.
Detecting the potential of the woman who would become his wife, Ike Turner transformed her into a sensual singer with a gravelly voice and advised her on a style that denoted: short skirts, stiletto heels and a biker jacket… His solo career was launched in 1960 with the song ” A Fool In Love”, which became a hit single. Very quickly, she found fame thanks to her velvet voice and her strong personality. Over the course of her six-decade career, Tina Turner has won 12 Grammy Awards, sold over 200 million albums, starred in several films, and written three bestselling memoirs.
Married to Ike Turner in 1962, Tina Turner had a son named Ronnie who is none other than the husband… of Afida Turner. The singer also adopted two of Ike’s children, Ike Jr. and Michael, not to mention Craig, another son born from a previous relationship and who died in 2018 of an overdose.
Since 2013, Tina Turner was married to German producer Erwin Bach, with whom she had been in a relationship for… 27 years. The singer moved to Switzerland to live in a castle with her husband who saved her life by giving her a kidney when she needed a transplant in 2016.
