The French Olympic Committee announced on Thursday that its president, Brigitte Enriques, has resigned from her position, nearly a year before it is due to host the Paris 2024 summer games.
The committee said in a statement: “At the opening of the General Assembly today, Brigitte Enriques announced her decision to resign from the presidency of the National Committee.”
The Olympic Games will start in Paris on July 26 and end on August 11 next year.
Enriques has called on the IOC to open an internal investigation into the French committee in the midst of a long-running dispute with former general secretary Didier Simennier.
She returned to her post last December after a two-month sick leave after accusing Simene of “psychological violence”, while the latter denied the allegations and sued Enriques for defamation.
The French Olympic Committee is not affiliated with the organizing committee for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
