The Roma team wasted two valuable points in chasing the dream of European participation next season, after drawing with its guest Salernitana 2-2 on Monday in the 36th stage of the Italian League.
The first half ended with the guest team advancing with a goal scored by Antonio Candreva in the 12th minute.
Just two minutes after the start of the second half, Stephan Shaarawy equalized for Roma, but Senegalese striker Boulaye Dia responded with Salernitana’s second goal in the 54th minute.
Seven minutes before the end of the match, veteran Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic scored the equalizing goal for Roma.
Two rounds before the end of the season, Roma scored one point, raising its tally to 60 points in seventh place, one point behind Atlanta, who qualified sixth for the preliminary round of the European Conference League, and Salernitana raised its tally to 39 points in fifteenth place.
It should be noted that Roma won the title of the first edition of the European Conference League last season, after defeating Feyenoord Rotterdam, with a goal without a response, in the final.
