Puma, the sponsor of Valencia CF, supported Vinicius Junior, the Real Madrid player, after he was subjected to racist abuse during the two teams’ match in the Spanish Premier League last Sunday.

Vinicius accused the Spanish League and Spain of racism, after he was subjected to racist abuse from fans in the match that took place at the Valencia stadium earlier this week.

The Brazilian striker pointed out to the fans who insulted him, which led to the suspension of the match for ten minutes, after which he got into a fight with the Valencia players and was sent off in the second half. Real lost 1-0.

Puma, the sponsor of Valencia and the Spanish League, told Reuters in a statement: “At Puma, we do not tolerate racism. We condemn discrimination in all its forms and stand firmly with Vinicius and the football community who have condemned the events.

The Spanish Bank (Santander), whose sponsorship contract for the Spanish League expires this season, also expressed its rejection of what happened.

The bank said in a statement: Santander strongly rejects all forms of racism and discrimination, regardless of who does it.

And Luis Rubiales, president of the Spanish Federation, said on Monday that Spanish football suffers from a problem of racism, after Real Madrid filed a complaint about a hate crime.
