Dozens of protesters gathered to demonstrate in front of the Spanish Consulate in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, on Tuesday evening (Wednesday morning GMT), following the recent racist abuse against Brazilian star Vinicius Junior, striker of the Real Madrid football team.
The newspaper “Folha de São Paulo” reported that the participants in the demonstration chanted “the racism of the League”, and demanded action from the Spanish government, and carried banners bearing the words “Vinicius Junior, we are with you” and “This is not football, this is racism.”
Vinicius was subjected to racist abuse by the fans during the match that Real Madrid lost to Valencia, while the Brazilian accused the Spanish League of considering racism a “normal thing,” according to what he said on the social networking site “Twitter”.
