Jude Law plays King Henry VIII in “firebrand“, a film directed by the Brazilian karim Ainouzwhich was shown last Sunday (21) on Cannes Film Festival. At the press conference for the feature, the actor shared curious information about his character.
Law is said to have used a perfume specially made for the role, which smelled like “blood, fecal matter and sweat”. The role portrayed the British monarch in his final days when he was suffering from a leg ulcer.
“I’ve read many reports that you could smell Henrique from three rooms away. His leg was rotting away. He hid it with rose oil,” explained the actor. He completes the reason for the stink on set: “I thought it would have a big impact if I smelled really bad.”
To reproduce the odor, the actor said he sought out a specialist in perfumes. “It makes wonderful scents, and it also makes horrible scents,” he said.
