Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba will leave his team at the end of the current season after 11 years in its ranks, as the Catalan club announced on Wednesday.
And the Spanish champion issued a statement saying: Barcelona and Alba have reached an agreement to release the player from his contract, which expires at the end of the 2023-2024 season.
The statement added: Barcelona expresses its gratitude to Jordi Alba, for his professionalism, for his commitment, for his constant positivity, and for the warm treatment he showed in everything related to the Barcelona family.
Alba, 34, joined Barcelona from Valencia in 2012 and won the Spanish League six times and the Champions League once, among the 19 titles the club won while he was in its ranks.
As for his best season in the ranks of Barcelona, it was in 2015 when he won the treble (league, cup and Champions League) under the leadership of coach Luis Enrique.
Alba lost his starting position this season to young Alejandro Balde.
Alba thus joined his colleague Sergio Busquets, who also decided to leave Barcelona this summer.
