Al-Ahly strengthened its lead in the Egyptian Football League standings, after its victory over its host, Tala’a Al-Jaish, 2-0, on Friday, in a postponed match from the 22nd round of the competition.
Al-Ahly advanced through Mohamed Magdy Afsha in the 46th minute, before Amr Al-Suleya added the second goal from a penalty kick in the first minute of the counted time instead of lost for the second half.
The match witnessed Mohamed Samir, the player of Al-Talaa Al-Jaish, being expelled in the 89th minute, after he caused the penalty kick that came from Al-Ahly’s second goal by touching the ball with his hand inside the penalty area.
Al-Ahly, who will play the CAF Champions League final against Moroccan Wydad next month, raised its tally to 59 points in the lead, four points ahead of Pyramids, who finished in second place, noting that Al-Ahly played 23 matches, while Pyramids played 27 matches.
On the other hand, the balance of Vanguards of the Army froze at 26 points in the seventeenth (penultimate) place.
