Dutchman Frenkie de Jong described the Barcelona football team as his dream team, and reaffirmed his desire to continue with the team in the future.
It should be noted that De Jong was one of the most prominent topics of controversy in the summer transfer market in European football.
It was reported that Manchester United was seeking to include De Young to play under the leadership of coach Eric Ten Hag, who had previously trained him at Ajax, at a time when it was reported that Barcelona was seeking to collect money in order to alleviate its financial crisis.
This step did not materialize, but the rumors continued, as it was reported that Manchester United would make a new offer to include the “25-year-old” player at the end of the season.
However, De Young expressed, in statements to TV3, his desire to continue with Barcelona in the “Camp Nou” stadium, which is undergoing renovations until 2026, the year in which the player’s contract expires.
De Jong said: I hope to play in the new Camp Nou. Barcelona has always been a dream club for me, and I would like to stay here for many years.
He added: For me, the Camp Nou is the most beautiful stadium in the world. The plans for the stadium are very good. I would like to continue here for many years. Barcelona is my dream club.
De Jong is currently focusing on the El Clasico match against Real Madrid on Sunday at the Camp Nou, in which Barcelona seeks to move away from the top of the league by 12 points against Real Madrid.
De Jong said: Playing in El Clasico carries feelings that are difficult to describe. When I was a kid, I dreamed of doing it with Barcelona, and now I can. This is a very important game for the fans as well as for the players, a game that could decide a league championship.
