Crystal Palace, struggling in the English Premier League, announced the dismissal of French coach Patrick Vieira, on Friday, after 20 months in the position, after losing 1-0 from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Steve Parish, the club’s president, said in a statement: “It is with great regret that this decision has been made.
Palace has not won any league matches this year (11 consecutive matches) and is three points away from the relegation zone.
Parish added: The results in recent months put us in an unstable position in the league and we felt the need to change in order to have the best chance of staying in the Premier League.
