Five people have been indicted, including two imprisoned, in the investigation into the shooting death of a man in July in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, a judicial source said on Saturday. A total of nine people were arrested and taken into custody on Monday.
According The Parisian, the respondents are suspected of belonging to a “criminal organization”. On the evening of July 18, 2022, two men got out of a car on rue Popincourt (XIe) and shot two people seated on the terrace of a bar, killing one of them.
Nine people arrested
Seven people were arrested in several cities in France by investigators from the criminal brigade of the Paris judicial police or the Central Office for the Fight against Organized Crime (OCLCO). Two others were already in detention in connection with other cases. According to a source familiar with the matter, these are eight men and one woman born between 1996 and 2004.
At the end of their police custody, five people were indicted on Friday and Saturday in the judicial investigation opened in July for murder and attempted murder with premeditation and in an organized gang, violations of the legislation on weapons and association criminals, said the judicial source. Two were imprisoned and three placed under judicial control. The other four have had their custody lifted without prosecution at this stage, the source added.
A minor, aged 16 at the time and suspected of being one of the perpetrators, had been overpowered at the scene by witnesses before being arrested by the police. He was indicted in particular for murder and attempted murder in an organized gang, and placed in pre-trial detention. His accomplice had managed to escape. The judicial source was unable to specify whether he is one of the suspects indicted on Friday and Saturday.
