Liverpool midfielder Stefan Pejsic announced on Thursday that he will miss the competition for the end of the season due to an adductor muscle injury.
Pejsic missed Liverpool’s 1-0 loss in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Real Madrid on Wednesday. The English team lost 6-2 on aggregate in both legs.
The player said via “Instagram”: Unfortunately, I suffered an injury that will keep me out of competition until the end of the season. It is unfortunate to say goodbye to this wonderful season for me, but I am aware that this is part of football and it will make me stronger physically and mentally.
Bectic’s brilliance was one of the few bright spots in a disappointing season for Liverpool, who are sixth in the league, six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have played a game more.
The Spanish player participated in 21 matches in all competitions this season, scoring one goal.
