Alexander Isak scored a brace that led Newcastle to an exciting victory over Nottingham Forest 2-1 on Friday evening, in the opening of the twenty-eighth stage of the English Premier League.

Nottingham Forest advanced with a goal scored by Emmanuel Dennis in the 26th minute, then Newcastle equalized with the first goal of Alexander Isak in the last minute of the first half.

The match almost ended in a draw, but Newcastle continued its attempts until it won a penalty kick in the fatal time, from which Isak scored the winning goal, 2-1, in the 90th minute.

Newcastle strengthened its position in fifth place, raising its tally to 47 points, one point behind fourth-placed Tottenham, and five points ahead of sixth-placed Liverpool.

And Newcastle achieved the second successive victory, after its previous five league matches witnessed three consecutive draws and two defeats.

As for Nottingham Forest, it suffered a fourth defeat against two draws during its last six league matches, to freeze its balance at 26 points in fourteenth place.
