At the beginning of BBB 23the athlete had already been appointed as a voter of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), for having shared videos of pro-Bolsonaro demonstrations.
At a certain moment, one of the participants asks her at the kitchen table “How is Brazil doing with Lula?”. Key is visibly uncomfortable “Let’s change the subject”, replied the Brazilian. “What is the name of the previous president?”, insists another participant. The volleyball player does not answer and changes the course of prose: “Acabou? I can’t believe it,” she says, referring to the sparkling wine that was being served.
The brothers from Mexico —a country governed by a left-wing president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador— did not give up. “The president before Lula, what was his name?”, they ask again. Key then leaves the table, not before hearing again: “What was the name of the previous president?”.
She then replies, upset: “I’m sorry, but I don’t want to talk about it. In Brazil, people can’t stand talking about it. Any little thing, they end up with you”, he fired.
Key Alves’ fame as a Bolsonarist even earned a joke on the humor board of Paulo Vieira. At Big Therapy, the comedian made a pun with her name, turning it into an expression often used by Jair Bolsonaro, the “okay”. Alongside Ana Clara Lima, the comedian sang a rap in which he called the participant “Tal Key”.
