Manchester United, a competitor in the English Premier League, announced on Wednesday that it will play several matches in the United States in the summer, in preparation for the new season.
The club did not specify when or where the matches would take place, but said it would reveal details in the coming weeks.
The club’s director of football, John Murtaugh, said: This will be our first visit to the United States in five years, and everyone at the club is looking forward to this visit.
He added: We know that the popularity of Manchester United and the Premier League in general is increasing in America, so we look forward to building on this relationship next summer.
