It’s been 23 years since singer C. Jérôme left. On March 14, 2000, the one who made the French dance with his hits “Kiss Me” (1972), “Himalaya” (1972), “C’est moi” (1974), “Cindy” (1976) and “Et tu danses avec lui” (1985) died in Paris of cancer at the age of only 53.
A drama for those close to the artist but also for his many fans who used to find their idol on stage or on their screen. And for good reason, in addition to regularly criss-crossing France from gala to gala, C. Jérôme was also an emblematic face of the audiovisual landscape of the time. During the summer of 1996, he notably presented “La Chanson Trésor” on TF1, then joined Michel Drucker on “Vivement Dimanche”, where he hosted a memorabilia section.

Jenifer: her strange bond with the singer
Long before Jenifer was revealed by winning the first season of “Star Academy”, the singer had one of her crazy encounters that became an anecdote to tell for life. And for good reason, while she was at a ball in Nice, the 10-year-old girl she was at the time was pushed onto a stage to sing on stage as the first part of singer C. Jérôme. A quarter of an hour of glory which took place 10 years before its revelation in the telecrochet of TF1 and which was already far from being the first time that the little girl of the time held a microphone.
“We often refer to my beginnings as a singer at 10, during a concert by C. Jérôme in Corsica, but I sang for the first time alongside my mother, around 7, in a retirement home. . I come from a modest family, my parents worked in ready-to-wear and my mother sang regularly for the sick and the elderly, telling us, my younger brother and me, that we had to go to the most destitute”, declared of her in 2012 to our colleagues from the JDD.
