When Alberto Fernandez When he left Congress, he decided to invite his circle of younger collaborators to have lunch in his office, in the Casa Rosada, to analyze and take stock of his speech. At the table sat the Speaker, Gabriela Cerrutti; the Chief of Staff, Augustine Rossi; the deputy chief of staff, Juan Manuel Olmos and the Secretary of the Presidency, Julio Vitobello.
There was satisfaction with the defense of the management in detail. It was that message, with numbers and details, that he also left in accordance with the Cabinet ministers, who have been protesting for a long time because the internal front of all it eats up what they consider to be the achievements of management.
“The balance is totally positive. Management was valued and the course was set”assured one of the officials closest to the President, who was satisfied with having expressed all his questions to the Supreme Court with Horacio Rosatti and Carlos Rosenkrantz sitting a few meters away.
“He was very focused and determined to count his government, but recognizing all that remains to be done”, synthesized an important minister. The President defended his management tooth and nail, although he avoided taking advantage of the speech to announce concrete measures, as he has done on other occasions.
In one of the official offices they highlighted “the level of detail of the things that were done despite the difficulties” and what was linked “to GDP growth, employment and investment.” “He made a summary of the period that he had to govern with enormous conditions and great achievements based on that,” he pointed out.
Inside the Casa Rosada there is “absolute agreement” with how the speech came out, with the way in which the Head of State interpreted the script studied during the day yesterday, in the Quinta de Olivos, together Cerruti, Rossi and elms.
Fernández wired his management in a discursive way in order to show himself compact, without fissures, despite the fact that his government is completely crossed by the internal crack. This division has harmed the progress of the management and has eroded its authority, but even so, in today’s assembly, sought to empathize with society showing some specific achievements.
Throughout his speech he pointed out a specific case of progress and he did so by looking at a box where the protagonists of that case were sitting. The idea of highlighting the achievements of the administration in this way came from Cerruti, who closely followed the details of the extensive speech and its execution in the venue. In recent days, he asked each ministry to mark a central management policy and a protagonist.
With all the nominees seated in a box, the President began to review and detail the specific cases. He named an ex-combatant from the Malvinas war who was able to retire thanks to a special regime, a worker from an Argentine biotechnology company that is supporting an investment process in the country and a woman who was able to obtain, together with her family, his own house, among other examples that he highlighted throughout the almost two hours of speech.
In Balcarce 50 they highlighted the “solidarity” that there was with Cristina Kirchner despite not having talked about “proscription” as Kirchnerism wanted. The President sought a different way of expressing it that does not have the same impact as the term that is sought to be installed from the heart K. He spoke of “political disqualification”, which turned out to be a nod to the Vice President.
“One word doesn’t make a difference”, stood out close to the head of state. The objective was met. Fernández did not budge one comma from his main idea, which was to take a hard line against the Supreme Court, ensure that Cristina Kirchner is being persecuted and defend the administration as a symbol of her leadership in the Government.
In a more spicy tone and with some irony, a national official defended the presidential decision. “The Cámpora is running away from the word proscription, if not how do they raise CFK’s candidacy?he wondered, referring to the operative clamor for the Vice President to compete in the next elections.
Another official highlighted the “cohesion that there was with what the Frente de Todos expresses” since Fernández pointed out “the interference of the Court in the independence of the Judiciary” and raised “the issues that Congress did not address” regarding the judicial agenda that the ruling party has. “He spoke on behalf of the government support base”indicated.
From the office of one of the ministers closest to the President, four fundamental axes of the speech in Congress were highlighted. “He showed the strengths of management with concrete numbers, he cornered Juntos por el Cambio on Buenos Aires soil and did not screw up,” they expressed, with a touch of grace.
Throughout his speech Alberto Fernández did not give any electoral signal. He did not back down from his candidacy or tilt the field toward a specific candidate. Far from doing so, he highlighted every detail of his management as a way to capitalize on those achievements in his management. In short, his government management is the only electoral platform that he has to dream of re-election.
