The draw for the semi-finals of the European Nations League in football, which was drawn on Wednesday, resulted in the Netherlands’ confrontation with Croatia and Spain with Italy next June in the Netherlands.
The Netherlands, the host of the decisive matches, opens the semi-finals in Rotterdam on June 14 against Croatia, and then plays the next day Spain with Italy in Enschede.
The match for third place will be held on the 18th of it in Enschede and the final on the same day in Rotterdam.
France, the defending champion, was eliminated from the group stage, after finishing behind Croatia and Denmark with an orphan victory in six matches, but it compensated by reaching the 2022 World Cup final when it lost on penalties to Argentina.
This tournament was launched in 2018 to replace the traditional friendly matches for national teams.
The winner will win a cup and reserve three teams, through which they will qualify for the European Cup 2024, through a supplement after the end of the regular qualifiers.
The Netherlands, the only one who did not lose in the group stage, met Croatia twice, where they shared the victory, while Italy beat Spain 11 times, lost 12 times and drew 16 times.
Spain beat Italy 2-1 in the 2021 semi-finals, before losing to France in the decisive match.
Portugal won the title of the first edition of the competition at the expense of the Netherlands 1-0 and France the second against Spain 2-1.
