Arsenal, the leaders of the English Premier League, announced on Monday that it had signed Polish international defender Jakub Kievor on a long-term contract from Spezia, Italy.
Although the English club did not disclose the details of the deal, British media reported that its value exceeds 20 million pounds.
“It’s great that Jakub has joined the team,” Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said in a statement. “He is a versatile young defender who has already shown great potential and abilities with Spezia in Serie A as well as at the international level with Poland.”
The 22-year-old joined Spezia in August 2021, where he participated in 43 matches and was also part of the Polish national team at the World Cup in Qatar. “Jacob will add strength and quality to our defence. We welcome him and his family to Arsenal and look forward to working with him,” Arteta added.
Jakub will wear the number 15 shirt and will immediately start training with his new team-mates.
