The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) confirmed the need for Iranian goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand not to participate in the match against Wales on Friday, after he suffered a concussion during the match against England at the start of the two teams’ campaign in the World Cup in Qatar.

Beiranvand’s head collided with team mate Majid Hosseini and he was treated for several minutes, but surprisingly he restarted the game for a while before being carried off the field on a stretcher.

And the British news agency (BA Media) reported that FIFA has been in daily contact with the Iranian Football Federation since Beiranvand’s injury, and told him of the need to follow the concussion protocol and not push the goalkeeper against Wales.

The Iranian national team doctor will have the final decision on whether or not Beiranvand will participate, but FIFA takes this issue very seriously.
