Brazilian Richarlison scored twice, including a superb backhand strike from the air, to propel his country’s quest for a sixth World Cup title to a perfect start with a 2-0 victory over Serbia to top Group G on Thursday.
Richarlison led a fearsome four-way attack, scoring in the 62nd minute after Serbian goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic blocked a deflected shot from Vinicius Jr. after a great performance from Neymar.
Richarlison’s second goal equaled some of the great and beautiful goals in Brazil’s rich history. After a quick pass, Richarlison twisted his body to tackle the ball with his right foot and fired an unstoppable shot sending the crowd at Lusail Stadium into wild celebrations.
The in-form striker now has nine goals for Brazil this year.
