Louis van Gaal, coach of the Dutch national team, said that the physical readiness of the team player, Memphis Depay, will be assessed, after the Netherlands’ success in beating Senegal.
The Dutch national team marked its return to the World Cup again, by defeating Senegal 2-0, as the goals came in the last minutes through Cody Gakbo and Dave Klassen, to snatch the first three points in Group A.
Depay started the match from the bench due to a problem with the hamstrings, but he participated in the last 28 minutes of the match that was held at the “Al Thumama” stadium. The Barcelona striker hopes to participate against Ecuador in the next match scheduled to be held on Friday.
Van Gaal added about Depay, who has only started twice in La Liga this season: “We agreed before the match that he would play for half an hour.”
He added, “Against Ecuador, he will want to play, but we have to evaluate his readiness after that match. I never thought we would lose, but we wanted to include him in that match, creating many chances to score. He is a player who can make the difference.”
