The French national team came from behind with a goal to win 4-1 over its Australian counterpart on Tuesday, at the start of its campaign to defend its title as World Cup soccer champion, in the first round of Group D in the competition.

The Australian national team took the lead in the ninth minute through Craig Goodwin, before Adrien Rabiot equalized for the French national team in the 27th minute.

In the 32nd minute, Olivier Giroud scored the second goal for the French national team, before Kylian Mbappe added the third goal in the 68th minute, and made the fourth goal for Giroud, who scored his second goal in the 71st minute, to become the historic scorer for the French national team with 51 goals, equally with Thierry Henry.

The same group matches had started earlier on Tuesday, as they witnessed a goalless draw between Tunisia and Denmark.
