Robert Lewandowski dreams of scoring his first goal in the World Cup, as the Polish national team seeks to make up for its failures in previous World Cups.
Lewandowski is still one of the best scorers in the world, scoring 18 goals in all tournaments this season, and no player has scored more than him except Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s top scorer (23 goals) and Kylian Mbappe, the star of Paris Saint-Germain (19 goals), in the five leagues. The Barcelona striker is the country’s top scorer with 76 goals in 134 matches, but he has yet to score a World Cup goal.
The Polish national team did not succeed in qualifying for the World Cup in 2010 and 2014 and scored only two goals in the 2018 edition in Russia in the group stage, and Lewandowski hopes to correct the mistakes of Poland’s previous participations.
The ′′ 34-year-old ′′ striker said in statements to the BBC (BBC): I’m already thinking about the last World Cup.
He added: It would be a big dream to score in the World Cup and I will do everything I can for this dream. I hope it will happen in the current edition.
Lewandowski contributed to 13 goals for Poland in the World Cup qualifiers, scoring nine goals and assisting four goals, more than double the goals of his teammates.
